Z18 Clock Installation Guide

At the bottom of this article is a .pdf document on the installation of a Z18 Clock. This document is intended for a professional installer. Having the clock professionally installed is highly recommended. If you have an existing security or access control system that will be connected to the Z18, using the same company that installed that system is advised. Otherwise, please use a qualified electrician. Installing the Z18 clock typically requires cutting a hole and concealing wiring in the wall.

THE Z18 IS A DISCONTINUED CLOCK: This clock is still supported but is no longer available for purchase.

Print Reader Installation

IMPORTANT: The attached Z18 Installation PDF contains a wiring guide for the PrintReader which is now inaccurate. Please share the below wiring guide with the technician attaching the PrintReader to the clock.

Bell Relay Kit

At the bottom of this article is a link to the Bell Relay Kit manual. This will give a detailed instructions and a wire diagram for connecting a Z18 to a bell system. (This manual is a also shipped with our Bell Relay Kit.)

Setting up and accessing the bell schedule menu can be done by pressing the MENU key twice, and then enter the password 74642355 (spells "RINGBELL" on a phone keypad).

From the bell schedule menu, you can set scheduled times of when the bell is to ring by:

  • Day of the week (e.g. Monday thru Friday)
  • Specific date (e.g. December 25)
  • A combination of both.

Bell schedule changes take effect immediately. They are not transmitted from clock to clock, so they affect only the clock being programmed. This also means Bell settings from one clock cannot be transmitted to another clock.

If the power is turned off when a scheduled bell event occurs, the bell will not ring. There will be no "make-up" ring even if the power comes back on later, unless the power comes on within 60 seconds of the time it is supposed to ring.
